AJ NOVA BIOGRAPHY

Arcadio J. Nova, known affectionately as Junior or AJ to his family and friends, is a man whose life has been unjustly interrupted by a wrongful conviction. His story is one of resilience, faith, and unwavering family bonds in the face of adversity.

AJ grew up in the Washington Heights section of New York City, the second of four siblings. From an early age, he understood the value of family and hard work. After graduating high school, AJ pursued higher education with a noble goal: to become an attorney specializing in legal affairs for the elderly. He enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, demonstrating his early commitment to justice and serving others.

Life took an unexpected turn when AJ’s father passed away at the young age of 45, leaving his mother to raise four children alone. Displaying remarkable strength and dedication, AJ interrupted his education to support his family, stepping up when they needed him most. This decision speaks volumes about his character and priorities.

Years later, AJ’s pursuit of education led him to Monroe College in the Bronx, where he earned an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems in 2005. It was during this time that he met the woman who would become his wife, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.

In 2005, AJ and his wife bought their first home in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, laying down roots and working towards the American dream. His entrepreneurial spirit and faith led him to open a Christian Bookstore in Paterson, New Jersey, serving his community and sharing his beliefs.

AJ’s commitment to his faith extended beyond his business. As a volunteer he distributed Christian religious books to inmates at the Passaic County Jail, showcasing his desire to provide hope and guidance to others even in challenging circumstances.

AJ is a devoted family man and a father of five children. He believes strongly that family is the cornerstone of a person’s life, and he has always prioritized spending time with his loved ones and participating in his church community. His passion for baseball reflects his all-American spirit and love for the game.

Despite the challenges, AJ has earned his paralegal certificate, leveraging his bilingual skills to become a valuable asset in the legal field. His dedication to continuous learning is evident through his completion of multiple educational and vocational programs offered by the Department of Corrections. Throughout his incarceration, AJ has maintained an exemplary, infraction-free disciplinary record, reflecting his strong character and self-discipline. Perhaps most notably, AJ authored a book on why criminal trial are lost, making the legal system more accessible to the public, and is currently working on his second book. These literary pursuits, combined with his clean record and educational achievements, paint a compelling picture of a man dedicated to legal education and helping others navigate the complexities of the justice system. AJ’s remarkable transformation behind bars not only strengthens the case for reviewing his wrongful conviction but also highlights his potential to be a valuable contributor to society upon release.

AJ’s story is not just about one man’s struggle; it’s about the impact of wrongful convictions on families, communities, and our faith in the justice system. By supporting this petition, you can help bring AJ’s case to light and work towards rectifying this miscarriage of justice.
